Working Group 7 Report

1. Ferrous Materials Working Group
The International Foundry Technology Forum was held in Jinan, China, on November
4, 2013. The Forum was organized by FICMES and WFO Ferrous Working group and
WFO Moulding Materials working group. The nine speaker were from France, Korea,
Japan, Spain, Germany,Norway and China.
The nine presentations were as follows:
1). Introduction of Austempered High Carbon High Silicon Steel

International Foundry Technology Forum was held in Zhengzhou, China, on October
27,2014. The Forum was organized by FICMES and WFO Ferrous Commission and
WFO Moulding Materials Commission. The five guest speaker were from Japan,
America and China. A list of their presentations appears separately below.

2016 WFO International Forum on Cast Iron & Cast Steel Technologies was held in
Beijing on May 16, 2016. The Forum is sponsored by WFO Ferrous Metals
Commission and co-organized by China Foundry Association (CFA) and Foundry
Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (FICMES).
Mr. Huang Weidong, president of FICMES, presided over the forum and gave a
welcome address at the opening ceremony. Mr. Su Guoxiong, Chairman of the WFO
Ferrous Materials Commission, and Mr. Zhang Libo, standing vice-president of China
Foundry Association, also gave an address, respectively. Thirteen speakers shared
their opinions and research results focusing on the “Advanced Technology for Cast
Iron and Cast Steel”, of which eight concerned about cast irons. The various topics
covered the industrial review and specific casting technologies, such as melting,
feeding, alloying and inoculation, as well as numerical simulation. The forum
attracted about 150 attendees, 23 papers in total are included in the proceedings of the
forum. The 13 guest speakers were from China, Korea, Germany, UK, Belgium and
Norway made wonderful technical presentations.
Meanwhile, a Special subject discussion, Niobium Alloying in Cast Iron and cast steel,
was held, and 5 guest speakers from China made technical presentations.
